A. Introduction

With a large increase in the number of plate heat exchanger models and an increase in variety of PHE's, the exercise of estimating costs has been simplified and complicated at the same time.

With gasketed plates, the increase in number of models has meant that an overview of cost trends with size can be taken more easily. On the other hand, costs of welded pairs, fully welded units and brazed PHE's are, of course, quite different to a gasketed PHE.

Since gasketed PHE's continue to dominate the market, the emphasis in this section is on such heat exchangers.
